Impressed with myself

I've always struggled to pick up and read a book, that is why this year I decided enough was enough and to jump on the reading band wagon.

I'm very impressed with myself so far this year as I have managed to read 3 books this month. Now I know that when I say which books they are some might think that they are a bit rubbish but, meh, I don't care ;) So here goes....

I started with a book that Alice (apparently) chose for my birthday present last year, Being Reem by Joey Essex. I thought to myself it would be an easy book to start with and it actually turned out to be an alirght read, it was funny in some places with the usual Joey Essex comments. eg. "I only found out recently that Santa had reindeer pulling the sleigh, I always thought it was dolphins..."

The next book I read was Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (Zoella) and that was a really fast read with a nice love story. It was a good book to say it was her first novel she had written and would probably read it again in a few years time.

The third book I read was Paper Towns by John Green, which I have just found out the film is out this year. This was a brilliant read and I was hooked straightaway and found myself struggling to put the book down. I won't say too much, but it involves a geek's love for a girl who has been friends with him since they were little, and then she goes missing. He finds clues left by her to try and solve the mystery of what happened to her.

Im not sure whether to read Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks or Your The One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher.... I will keep you updated ;)

Books

I forgot in my last post to add that I also aim to read more books this year as I have found that it helps me to relax as well as all the other benefits.

I have a load of books on my list, including books by John Green, Giovanna Fletcher, Charlie Higson and George Orwell. However, I really struggle to choose books to read as I will pretty much read anything but sometimes I get disappointed once I have started to read a book.

So, I would absolutely love suggestions from people, with some of the books they have read and love.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

It's been a while...

Just as the title of this post says, It's been a while... Infact its been too long since I did a blog post, so I intend to update you all with what has happen since my last post.

At the end of November we had our ante natal group first birthday party, we celebrated all the babies turning one right in the middle of the range of birthdays and it was really lovely. We often don't get to see everyone all at the same time because of work and other commitments, so to see everyone was brilliant. We had hired a hall in Exeter and took our own food and toys, along with a "secret santa" birthday present each.

This was the birthday cake that one of the mum's got done.

December was a busy month, Alice had her first birthday at the beginning, which she shares with her Daddy. Her birthday was a brilliant day, Lucien had the day off so we spent it relaxing as a family together. The only down side was that we were all ill with varying illnesses so we weren't feeling on top form however the day was still nice. Alice ended up being very overwhelmed with all the presents that she had to open and play with so this took most of the day to do.

Ten days after the birthday, Alice's Auntie Claire and Uncle Andrew came to visit for a week over Christmas. They don't get to see Alice very often so it was nice that they got to spend so long with her and see how much she had grown since the last time they saw her. Alice and I ended up seeing them everyday, with the exception of Boxing Day. She did a lot of things with her Auntie and Uncle and absolutely loved it, including the children's Christmas party at the railway club, playing in the park and going to Dawlish to feed the ducks and buy pasties.

We spent Christmas day at my mum's house with my parents, siblings and partners. Alice was well and truly spoilt by everyone, she even ended up with a ride on tractor and a Little Tikes Coupe. Mum cooked an amazing Christmas dinner for us all with all the trimmings you could imagine. Alice had her first ever Christmas dinner and she thought it was brilliant.

On New Years Eve we were hoping for a nice chilled evening watching the TV and having a glass of wine, Alice had other ideas, I think it was the ridiculous amount of fireworks being set off near our house. We then spent the evening with a very tired and grumpy little girl, she eventually went to bed and fell asleep and 11.45pm, just before the big displays started.

We are now up to date with all the goings on since the last post.

I don't do new years resolutions, however I have decided to try and do a few little things to help myself this year, I'm not sure how well this will turn out. I have decided to:

  1. Eat less naughty foods and more healthy foods.
  2. Get out and about more.
  3. See more of my friends.
  4. Write blogs more often.
The eating more healthy foods seems to be going ok so far, I have been eating a lot of cucumber, lettuce and veg with meals. I have also got a taste for cottage cheese at the moment too. So far so good..
